Process

Background

Do for team sports what e-commerce had done for retail, leverage all the convenience and efficiencies of digital, without losing the service level of in-person.

Discovery: workshops and user research

To fully understand all the users and use cases of the platform, we submerged ourselves through multiple workshops and user interview sessions: creating personas, journey maps and the basis for the information architecture.

Production: design, test and deliver

Mapping out the platform, we built prototypes for silo'ed pieces of functionality which we tested with the intended audience. Learnings and iterations brought us to a MVP definition of each, creating a design library and components for our dev partners.

Outcome

Results

The Locker Room has seen significant traction in the European football market with both retailers and teams. It is currently undergoing a technical overhaul to support an upcoming global launch.

Take aways
  • Do the complex hard thing before you do the low hanging fruit, the decisions will trickle down.

  • Start small and opinionated, modularity and flexibility can come later (if needed).

  • People need milestones as much as software needs regular releases.

  • Keep talking to customers after discovery, staying immersed was beneficial to the whole team.
